Webmail app written entirely in PHP
SquirrelMail X was inspired by the developer's need to access mail and address books from anywhere in the world.
Since webmail is the best way of doing this, they plumped for that except they decided to make it using just PHP. SquirrelMail X includes support for the IMAP and SMTP protocols and all pages render in pure HTML 4.0 so no JavaScript is required. It also includes strong MIME support, address books, and powerful folder manipulation features.
The big downside of SquirrelMail X however is that its very complicated to setup. Only those that are experienced Mac users or programmers will be able to fathom how to setup SquirrelMail X despite the extensive user guide and documentation. However, if you're willing to make the effort, it looks clean and easy to use albeit a little sparse. Some of those that have installed SquirrelMail X have found it even more useful than Outlook Webmail and Entourage so it can't be that bad.
SquirrelMail X is an impressive webmail app but you'll need to be a bit of a whizz or have a lot of patience, to figure out how to install it.
